# specification.website

A reference site that catalogs the modern web platform as a tagged checklist. Each spec gets one short paragraph and a Required / Recommended / Optional / Avoid tag, with deeper per-spec pages linked off the catalog. Built as a static reference; the author also proposes their own emerging conventions (most notably **Schemamap**) alongside ratified standards.

The site organizes everything into nine top-level categories: Foundations, SEO, Accessibility, Security, Well-Known URIs, Agent Readiness, Performance, Resilience, Internationalisation. See [[specification-website-checklist]] for a walk-through of the whole catalog as of May 2026.

## Why it matters

Three things stand out:

1. **Agent Readiness sits next to SEO and a11y as a peer category.** The framing treats LLM legibility as a first-class web concern, not a footnote.
2. **The catalog tracks emerging-but-still-draft conventions** like Content-Signal in robots.txt, Web Bot Auth, NLWeb, WebMCP, DNS-AID. Useful as a single index of what's being proposed.
3. **The site dogfoods its own checklist** — including the Schemamap proposal, which only exists on this site.

## Format

- Top page (`/checklist/`) is the master catalog: nine sections, one bullet per item with a one-paragraph summary and a status tag.
- Each item links to a dedicated spec page at `/spec/<category>/<slug>/` with longer explanation, examples, and references.
- Markdown source isn't (yet) exposed at `.md` URLs even though the checklist itself recommends doing so.
