Tim Gowers โ€” Fields medalist (1998), Cambridge professor, Royal Society Research Professor โ€” runs a long-running WordPress blog at gowers.wordpress.com. Most posts are mathematical exposition, write-ups of conjectures, and reflections on research culture. The blog is one of the canonical math-by-blogging surfaces and predates almost all of the wiki's other anti-llm-discourse / pro-LLM authors.

Recently the blog has carried first-hand reports of LLM-assisted mathematical research, of which chatgpt-5-5-pro-mathematical-research is the May 2026 entry. Notable because Gowers is the rare voice in the conversation who has both (a) the technical authority to evaluate LLM math output and (b) the patience to write up what happened in detail, including the parts where the LLM contributed an "original and clever" idea. See also terry-tao, the other Fields-medalist in the wiki writing first-hand about LLMs and coding agents in mathematics.
